The term “Flagship killer” is thrown around a lot these days, as manufacturers try and top each other when it comes to price and specs. The OnePlus One was produced to take on the big boys by offering great specs at a low price, and now the IUNI U3 is challenging the OnePlus to see which is the best bargain around. Ready for our OnePlus One vs. IUNI U3 specs shootout?
Display
The OnePlus One and IUNI U3 both have 5.5-inch displays, but one has a much higher resolution while the other has had some “warm” issues with their screens. No contest here, as the IUNI U3’s 2560 x 1440 QHD display wins by a landslide.
Processor, Memory & Storage
Things are close when it comes the guts of both handsets. The IUNI U3 and OnePlus have Snapdragon 801’s clocked at 2.5GHz and 3GB of RAM — specs any flagship would be proud of. The internal storage is the deciding factor as the OnePlus has 16/64GB variants while the U3 only has the 32GB model. If you’re thinking the OnePlus wins, you thought wrong as the IUNI U3 has a microSD slot.
Cameras & Battery
Both have 13MP rear cameras that use various camera tech tricks, but the OnePlus One has a larger 5MP camera compared to the 4MP UltraPixel snapper on the U3. The battery is also a smidge bigger at 3100mAh. This one really comes down to preference as both cameras have their perks and the difference between the batteries is negligible.
Design
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, so some may find the U3 sleeker than the OnePlus while others may feel the opposite way. Both have thin bezels and are similarly sized, but the IUNI U3 uses a magnesium alloy in the build while the One is plastic.
Extras & Price
The IUNI U3 and OnePlus One both run skinned versions KitKat and both will get Android L although the OnePlus will likely see it first. They can both take on the LTE networks, but the U3 had dual-SIM support whereas the OnePlus does not. That’s a big deal depending on your locale and how you use your device.
The OnePlus is priced at $299 for the for the base model while the 64GB version is $350. The IUNI U3 will sell for $325, and while it’s only 32GB you’ve got the microSD slot.
Verdict
This one’s easy even though the IUNI U3 isn’t coming out until next month. The OnePlus is a very solid handset and it does offer up a great value for the price. That said, for close to the same price you can have a QHD display, dual-SIM support and a microSD slot… it’s really no contest. If the IUNI U3 is “readily available” next month and not MIA like the OnePlus, it’s going to be the new “Flagship Killer” and a phone you’ll want to take a look at if you’re in the market for a new device.
Do you think the IUNI U3 is the clear winner or are you still waiting for it to arrive before declaring the Flagship Killer?
