Gionee Gpad G5 released for Rs. 14,999 in India

#

When we last checked in on the Gionee Gpad series, we discussed the GPad 4 coming to India back in February. Well, they’re back at it as the company has just launched the next phablet in their lineup with the Gionee Gpad G5.

The Gionee Gpad G5 is a bit smaller than the previous model as it sports a 5.5-inch 720p display. Underneath that slab of glass, you’ll find a speedy 1.5GHz hexa-core Cortex-A7, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The rear camera is clocks in at 8MP and has a LED flash while the front-facing selfie snapper is a respectable 2MP.

As for the bells & whistles, the Gionee Gpad G5 has a microSD card slot and dual “crystal loud” DTS speakers. In terms of connectivity, you can look forward to 3G, Edge, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth 4.0 — there’s even an FM radio. The Gpad G5 will come with a 2400mAh battery which is said to go for 288 hours in standby mode or offer up 12-15 hours of talk time.

The Gionee Gpad G5 is an odd device as it’s actually a bit of a downgrade from the Gpad G4 in several areas. The screen will carry a higher ppi due to its size, but the cameras and storage both take significant hits. That said, it’s powerful enough to get the job done, and it will run KitKat 4.4 straight out of the box. The smartphone will be available starting next week in online and retail stores in Black or White for Rs. 14,999.

Are you impressed with the Gionee Gpad G5’s specs?
