Most of the top-tier handsets of 2014 have already been announced or released aside from a few stragglers, rumored devices and the Nexus line. We’ve heard rumors of an HTC Nexus 9 release date in October, and today a new report gives us a few dates to look forward to.
Android Authority is reporting that sources familiar with the matter have said the HTC Nexus 9 release date will arrive sometime after either October 15th or the 16th as Google and HTC are expected to show off the tablet on one of those dates. No other details were given on the slate, but you can check our previous coverage of the leaked Nexus 9 specs.
The sources also mentioned that new phone hardware may be shown off, and that would have to be the Nexus X or Nexus 6. The last bit of info says that Android L will be unveiled in its entirety on November 1st, but will obviously be shown off in mid-October when the Nexus 9 and Nexus X are unveiled. This could be the sale/ship date for those devices or when the first wave of Android L will begin to roll out.
No need to toss this in the rumor rubbish pile, as it’s all but a given that the Nexus 9 and Nexus X are on the way. The dates line up with everything we’ve heard so far, and both devices have been spotted in various listings around the globe for months. It’s not a matter of if anymore, it’s just a matter of when, and we should learn more mid-October.
