When we talk about Huawei, it usually involves smartphones. We’re going to break from the norm today by giving you the skinny on the newly announced Huawei Honor Tablet that just launched in Malaysia.
The Huawei Honor Tablet is an 8-inch slate that’s aimed at the budget crowd, so it will be cheap but you shouldn’t expect top-tier specs. That said, it’s a metal-clad tablet with an 8-inch IPS display that has a resolution of 1280 x 800. Underneath the hood, you’ll find a surprisingly underwhelming Snapdragon 200 clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16 GB of (expandable) external storage.
The front-facing camera of the Huawei Honor Tablet is a VGA snapper while the rear camera is a sufficient 5MP sensor. It’s a 3G slate that runs Android 4.3 with Huawei’s UI slathered on top, and it gets its juice from a 4,800mAh battery.
The Huawei Honor Tablet is a slick looking slate that looks to be a good way to break into the world of Android tablets. One would assume it will get the Android 4.4 update eventually, and it’s priced at around $184.00. Not bad for an 8-inch tablet that can make and receive calls. Pre-orders for the Huawei Honor Tablet start on September 29, and the device is expected to launch on October 16.
