Device believed to be the Nexus 6 hits the FCC

#

A few short days ago, we told you about the HTC Nexus 9 making a pit stop by the FCC. Just like clockwork, a device that may be the Nexus 6 has just gone through certification as well.

As always, the FCC filings don’t give us a lot to work with, but the device listed uses the model number XT1254. The handset will have support for GSM and WCDMA frequencies at 850, 1700, and 1900MHz along with LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, and 17. This means it’s headed to T-Mob and AT&T which is certainly no surprise. That said, there could definitely be a Verizon variant in the works as well.

The FCC filing basically means the Nexus 6 or a “similar device” should be announced within the next few weeks. As the HTC Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 are made by different companies, we’re unsure if they will be announced separately by Motorola and HTC or together in a Nexus/Android L event. If they each get their own show, we could see the HTC Nexus 9 tomorrow when the company is expected to show off the HTC Eye along with a few other goodies.

It’s all a matter of “when” for the Nexus 6 at this point it is definitely coming our way, and we should pre-orders fire up around the first week of November at the latest. Hardcore Android nuts and dev’s will definitely flock to the new handset, but it will be interesting to see how the average Android fan takes to such a massive device when it’s released.

Are you still holding out hope for a 5.2-inch Nexus 6?
