Samsung Gear S lands in India for Rs. 29,000
When we cover gadgets headed to India, they are usually of the budget variety as every manufacturer is trying to get into the mid-range game in the region. If you’re in the market for something a little more high-end that can make calls and fits on your wrist, you may want to check out the Samsung Gear S which has just arrived in India.
The Samsung Gear S is Sammy’s latest wearable, and it is by far their best looking with its curved AMOLED display. It may be a smartwatch, but it still has plenty of power with a 1GHz dual-core chip, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. The battery is a 300mAh unit, and the Gear S will run Tizen, just like the Samsung’s latest wearables.
In terms of features, the Samsung Gear S is a 3G enabled smartwatch which means it can make and take calls without being tied to a smartphone. It obviously won’t be able to do everything a handset can, but it can handle most day-to-day tasks. The Gear S can also keep tabs on your health with its heart rate monitor and the S Health apps, and it carries the IP67 water resistant tag.
The Samsung Gear S isn’t the first smartwatch to arrive in India, and it certainly won’t be the last. It is one of the most expensive however as the Gear S is priced at Rs. 29,000 in India. It’s a sleek gadget, but does have its drawbacks with the Tizen-based OS and the fact that you have to pair it with a Galaxy device from the jump.
