There aren’t many Android flip phones available these days but the Samsung Galaxy Golden is one such phone and released late last year. Now its successor is in the pipeline and some Samsung Galaxy Golden 2 details have just leaked in a manual. We’re considering the Samsung Galaxy Golden 2 vs. current Golden from a specs leak.
Firstly, the two screens inside and outside are now both the same, 4.6-inch Super AMOLED displays with WXGA resolution of 1280 x 768. The processor of the Galaxy Golden 2 is also improved as the leaked info cites a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 quad-core CPU, with Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM.
Camera-wise the Galaxy Golden 2 is said to have a 16-megapixel rear camera with 2160p video recording capability, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing unit. The phone runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat and has two microSIM slots. There are no details on LTE connectivity but the phone does support GSM and CDMA.
The original Galaxy Golden has 3.5-inch and 3.7-inch internal and external displays respectively with WVGA resolution of 800 x 480, a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor, Adreno 305 graphics, and 1.5GB of RAM. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.9-megapixel front-facing snapper, and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, so as you can see the upcoming Galaxy Golden 2 is a notable step up.
This device may attract some attention from those who still like a flip handset and it’s destined for China Telecom. However, it’s unclear at this stage whether it will release for other markets. There’s no news yet on when the phone will launch, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more news on this.
