It’s been a big week for tablet lovers. Yesterday we finally got a look at the HTC Nexus 9, and today it was Apple’s turn to try to convince you to purchase a new slab. We now know Apple iPad Air 2 release date, and it’s coming sooner than you might think.
The Apple iPad Air 2 release date has been revealed as… next week. Pre-orders begin tomorrow, and the first units start shipping out towards the end of next week. As for the slab itself, it’s certainly an upgrade over last year’s model, and Apple claims the new 64-bit A8X processor will make it 40% faster. While we’re talking percentages, the new tablet has an anti-reflective coating that can reduce reflections by 56%.
The iPad Air 2 9.7-inch display stays the same, but the tablet will be quite a bit thinner than the original as it has slimmed down to 6.1mm. It’s a feat that’s even more impressive when you consider they’ve added Touch ID to the slab. Touch ID will allow you to use Apple Pay for digital and physical goods, and now that dev’s can make use of the .sdk, things should open up a bit. Throw in an 8MP rear sensor and an upgraded front-facing snapper, and you’ve got the new iPad Air 2.
While we don’t know the exact day the iPad Air 2 release date will happen, we do know how much they will cost. The Wi-Fi only version will run $499, $599 and $699 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations. The cellular models are more expensive at $629, $729, and a whopping $829 for the 128GB edition.
Are you planning on pre-ordering the new iPad Air 2 tomorrow?
