We see a lot of phone concepts, but most of them never make it to market. Project Ara is going to be an exception to the rule next year, but it isn’t the only unique device out there. The LG AKA smartphone is gearing up for a launch in South Korea, and it’s hands down one of the goofier gadgets we’ve seen.
Smartphone customization is nothing new as witnessed by Moto Maker and countless phone skins for any device imaginable. The LG AKA smartphone takes things to an all new level as it allows you to swap out a front-facing phone cover in black, pink, yellow or white. That may not sound all that unique, until you consider the large set of eyes staring back at you from the front of the phone.
We’re not exactly sure how it works, but the LG AKA smartphone has some sort of animated eye function as you can clearly see from the photo. From what we gather, each case/color will have a personality type, and those eyes will react differently depending on what you are doing with your phone.
To say the LG AKA smartphone is interesting would be an understatement, but don’t hold your breath on getting one as it will more than likely stay in Korea after it launches next month. That said, we are curious to hear more about the LG AKA specs, and are excited to actually see those eyes in action as well.
Is the LG AKA something you would be interested in or is it a bit too gimmicky for your tastes?
