The Vivo X5 Max may soon be the slimmest smartphone around
Smartphones get a bit thinner every year, and 2014 has already seen a number of skinny handsets. The Oppo R5 was the slimmest phone on earth, but it’s about to lose its crown to the Vivo X5 Max.
If you want to know about incoming Chinese handsets, TENAA is the place to look, and that’s where the Vivo X5 Max has appeared. The X5 Max is definitely thin at 4.75mm, and it measures 153.9 x 78 x 4.75mm. The two previous record holders are close, but not as svelte as the Gionee Elife S5.1 measures 5.15mm and the Oppo R5 clocks in at 4.85mm thick.
The Vivo X5 Max is skinny, but still manages to pack a punch under the hood thanks to a 1.7GHz octa-core SoC and 2GB of RAM. The display is of the 5.5-inch variety, and the resolution is listed as 1,920 x 1,080. Impressive for a device so thin, and even more so when you consider it has a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing shooter. You’ll also get KitKat 4.4.4 and LTE.
A few years ago, a device like this would have had horrible specs, but Vivo has really managed to make the X5 Max skinny and powerful. There’s been no word on a price or release date for the Vivo X5 Max, but we expect to hear something soon.
