The Doov Nike V1 and its 13MP flip camera will set you back $325

Doov Nike V1

Last month, an interesting smartphone popped up in China called the Doov V1. Today the company made things official, and gave the product a bit of a name change. Ready to meet the selfie-snapping Doov Nike V1?

Nike name aside, the Doov V1 showed up on TENAA last month with a bizarre flip camera. It may have gotten a name change to the Doov Nike V1, but that sensor is still there and we’re finally getting a good look at the handset itself along with all it has to offer.

The Doov Nike V1 will sport a 5-inch 720p display, and under that slab of glass, you’ll find a 1.5GHz quad-core chip and 2GB of RAM. The storage is listed at 16GB which is better than some handsets in its class, but it is non-expandable so you’ll need to rely on the cloud when you run out of room. Rounding things out on the inside is a 2,480mAh battery, and Android KitKat 4.4 with Super UI slathered on top.

The 13MP “flip” camera is obviously the star of the show with the Doov Nike V1, and for good reason. The camera can snap a picture on the back, then flip up 190-degrees to take a sharp selfie. The sensor itself is a stacked Sony unit with OIS and a dual-ton Philips flash. It flips with a button on its backside, and there’s plenty of software features as well if you want to make yourself look like a Blythe figure or do some touch ups.

As you’d expect, the Doov Nike V1 is headed to China where it will be priced at 1,999 yuan which equates to around $325 in the states. It’s unlikely it will be sold directly outside of its homeland, but it should be available through various third-party vendors soon if you’re interested in giving it a shot.
