TENAA see’s dozens of devices pass through its tech loving gates every week — it’s a fact. This week a new one showed up called the Asus X002, and it looks to be one of the new 64-bit handsets that is soon bound for China and abroad.
Asus is a name known around the globe for their various products including PCs, Tablets and Smartphones. The Asus X002 doesn’t appear to be from the popular Zenfone series although the X002 moniker is likely to change before the device gets a wide release. It may not be the flagship killer you’ve been waiting for, but the Asus X002 specs show a mid-ranger that might just be your next smartphone…
The Asus X002 specs provide us with a glimpse of a 64-bit handset that will get its juice from a 1.5GHz quad-core SoC. A Mali-T760 will handle the graphics, and you’ll have either 1GB of 2GB of RAM to work with depending on which set of benchmarks you go by. We say that as TENAA lists 1GB whereas GFXBench previously listed the X002 with 2GB of RAM.
Other Asus X002 specs include an 8MP snapper on the back and a 5MP front-facing sensor. You’ll have 8GB of internal storage on hand, but you can kick that up a bit with a microSD card slot. The handset measures 9.9mm at its thinnest point and weighs in at 140grams. If you’re looking for a dual-SIM smartphone, you may be a bit disappointed with the X002, but it will have 4G LTE.
Asus has produced some very popular budget smartphones over the past few years, and it’s safe to say the Asus X002 should join that club. We’re still unsure of a price or release date for the handset, but as it just passed through TENAA, it shouldn’t be long before we hear something official.
