Vivo Smartphones in India will become a Reality next Month
Every week we cover a number of smartphones in India, and this week is no different. One name you may have noticed missing from our India smartphone coverage is Vivo, but that will soon change. The company is set to put Vivo smartphones in India, and they’re going to do so starting next month.
Vivo has announced their plans to insert Vivo smartphones in India, where they’ll join other Chinese manufacturers duking it out for smartphone supremacy in the region. They may be a little late to the party considering Xiaomi, Huawei, and OnePlus have already made their presence felt, but they are going to touch down in the country with a bang.
Vivo will not introduce one, two or even Vivo smartphones in India. The company is bringing its entire portfolio to the country, and they plan on starting with four to five models within the first year before expanding to different models in 2015. This means Android aficionados in India should get devices like the Vivo Xplay 3S and Xshot in the very near future. That said, the company hasn’t announced which models will arrive with Vivo’s India debut so they could bring anything they’ve produced within the past year.
While we don’t know exactly when the company will put Vivo smartphones in India, we expect it to be soon. Jacky Liao, Vivo Mobile’s director in India said the first models will range between Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 40,000, and at “least three” will be over Rs. 20,000 in the first batch of devices sent to the region. This lets us know they’re going to deliver a mix of low to high-end handsets with the first run, and that’s great news as it means there should be a handset for everyone.
