The Asus Zenfone 5 has been hugely popular in India, and now we have news of a variant of this phone arriving. The Asus Zenfone 5 Lite A502CG, also referred to as the Zenfone 5 A502CG, is now on sale in India and we have details of the rice and availability coming up.
Last month we informed readers about the launch of the Asus Zenfone Lite for the Philippines at a price that would be equivalent to around Rs. 7,700 in India. At that time a launch for India hadn’t been confirmed but now the Zenfone 5 Lite is up for grabs on Flipkart. It’s priced at Rs. 8,999 and although the phone is made in Charcoal Black, Cherry Red, or Pearl White color options, the online retailer only has the black handset available right now.
Specs of the Zenfone 5 Lite include a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 dual-core processor, a 5-inch IPS display with resolution of 960 x 540, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD to 64GB. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 0.3-megapixel front-facing unit, and a 2500 mAh battery.
This is a dual SIM phone with dual standby, and connectivity options include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. It runs the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and is 10.8mm thick, weighing in at 160g. Design-wise the phone looks the same as the Zenfone 5.
As the standard Zenfone 5 has been so popular in India the Lite version is bound to attract a lot of interest. However, the Zenfone 5 A501CG that is already available is priced at Rs. 9,999 and sometimes lower depending on retailer. That’s not a lot more to pay and the A501CG has a faster processor, higher resolution display, and more RAM, although it does have a smaller capacity battery. Therefore it will be interesting to see how sales of these two handsets in India compare.
