We often joke about how smartphone manufacturers and cellular carriers try to outdo each other, and T-Mobile definitely enjoys shaking things up. Today the company held its Un-Carrier 8.0 event, and with it, they’re bringing something called Data Stash to the masses.
As the name implies, T-Mobile’s Data Stash is the company’s new data promo and it is a doozy. If you’re old enough to remember, ages ago you could actually “roll” things over including minutes and data from your phone plan. That doesn’t happen much anymore, but T-Mob is going old school with the Data Stash by allowing you to make use of any unused data. Excited?
Data Stash takes you unused data from the previous month and instead of rolling it over, it saves it into a “stash” of sorts. That Data Stash is good for up to a year and all new or existing T-Mob customers that qualify will receive 10GB of free data in their stash to get them started. If there’s a limit to how much data you can stash, it wasn’t mentioned so the only caveat seems to be the year time limit on the data.
If you use a lot of data and live in an area with good reception on Magenta, you might seriously want to consider switching to T-Mob for the Data Stash. That coupled with the fact you can stream music free of the data cap is a huge deal, especially considering how many applications use data and how much most of us stream these days. The new Data Stash plan begins on January 1, 2015, and you can read more about it to see if you qualify (most will) at the link below.
