Xiaomi wants your iPhone, trade-in program rumored

#

We’re used to seeing smartphone trade-in programs in the states, and companies taking shots at one another. Chinese handset manufacturers usually pick their battles a little closer to home, but a new rumor suggest a Xiaomi trade-in program is in the works, and they want your old iPhone.

The rumored Xiaomi trade-in program would take aim at Apple, and is said to be good for the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. Customers would be able to turn over their old iPhone 5 and get the Xiaomi Mi Note. If you have an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, they’ll swap it out for the popular Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. In addition to the program, the company “may” be prepping an app to help users switch over from the iPhone.

Being able to trade in an iPhone 5s for a Mi Note or Mi Note Pro might be a pretty sweet deal, but the iPhone 6 Plus is not a cheap device on the secondary market. The handsets are comparable on some levels, but brand new the unlocked 64GB iPhone 6 Plus goes for $849 while the 64GB edition of the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro is currently listed at $599 unlocked on Oppomart. Granted, some people prefer not to sell their old device, but as you can see from the prices, it is well worth it sometimes if you have the ability to do so.

The Xiaomi trade-in program isn’t official at this time, but it’s a move that could bring in some disillusioned iPhone customers in the country. If you want to try Android in China, the Xiaomi Mi Note and Mi Note Pro are a pretty good way to go, and much cheaper than comparable Android handsets like the Note 4.
