Tough tablets are big business, and they are handy devices to have regardless of where you reside. Not everyone needs a tablet that can take a tumble, but if you’re looking for one in India, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active release has just been announced for the region.
Samsung is holding a Samsung Forum event in Thailand today, and among the announcements was a tidbit about a new tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active has been available in other regions since late last year, and now it’s coming to India with a rumored price tag in the Rs. 52,000 range. Sammy didn’t give us an exact date, but it is scheduled to land soon so let’s take a look at those Galaxy Tab Active specs.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is a rugged slate sporting an 8-inch panel with a resolution of 1,280 x 800. Under the hood, you’ll find a quad-core chip clocked at 1.2GHz humming away and backed by 1.5GB of RAM. The storage capacity is listed at 16GB, but can be expanded up to 64GB. Rounding things out are Bluetooth, WiFi, and a 3.1MP/1.2MP camera combo. The slate has a 4,450mAh battery and will run Android 4.4. As the name implies, it’s also rugged thanks to a protective cover that allows it to survive a 1.2-meter drop and the IP67 tag.
As mentioned, Samsung has yet to set a firm price or release date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active, but we know the price will fall in the Rs. 52,000 range. The tablet will be available in Titanium Green when it arrives and you can choose between LTE and WiFi variants.
