The Samsung Galaxy S6 and its curved edge compatriot the Galaxy S6 Edge are heading for a global release on April 10. Accessories for these new smartphones will be in big demand, and one item in particular could become a standard requirement considering the new Galaxy flagship no longer has a replaceable battery. We have news on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Edge Mophie Juice Pack battery cases.
Mophie is a respected accessories maker and its Juice Packs are extremely popular and available for various devices. Many owners of Galaxy flagships will be used to them having a removable battery so have not had major concerns in this area before. However, because of the new premium metal build of the S6 and S6 Edge, a removable battery is no longer an option. Therefore having a battery case for either handset could be reassuring for many owners.
The Galaxy S6 has a 2550 mAh battery while the S6 Edge has a 2600 mAh battery, and the fully protective juice pack cases include a 3300 mAh battery so offer more than 100% extra charge. Mophie has announced that the cases have been specifically designed for the S6 and S6 Edge and will each be priced at $99.95 / £89.95. The cases support pass-through charge and sync over USB, and feature an impact isolation system for protection against everyday bumps, knocks, and drops.
Mophie was able to participate in the SMAPP program run by Samsung, meaning that they were able to start developing this accessory for the S6 and S6 Edge before the phones were officially announced. This means that these will be the sole authorized battery cases available when the phones hit the shelves. The juice pack cases for the phones are not available just yet, but you can sign up for notifications from this Mophie page.
Meanwhile if you want to find out more about the phones themselves you can check out many of our previous articles on them from here and here. Are you intending to purchase a Mophie Juice Pack battery case for your Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge?
