Motorola has been pretty swift at pushing out Android updates for its devices recently, and now it’s the turn of the Google Play Edition of the Moto G. This version of the phone was discontinued earlier in the year so it’s good to know that Motorola is still keeping it in mind, as the Moto G GPE Android 5.1 update is now available.
This model is the first Google Play Edition device to receive this latest upgrade and it’s arriving as an OT update. It brings build number LMY47M and is around 171MB in size, so fairly sizeable. Users of the phone will benefit from performance optimizations, improved stability and further tweaks for the stock Android experience usually reserved for Nexus devices.
Updates such as this are generally rolled out in phases, but if you own the Moto G GPE you should be receiving notification about it soon. If not then you might want to manually check for the update, and if you simply can’t wait you can download the update and flash it manually from the Google server link at the source below.
Now the GPE Moto G has received the Android 5.1 Lollipop update it’s safe to assume that the same upgrade will soon be available for other GPE devices. Bear in mind that this latest update is only presently available for the Google Play Edition of the Moto G and not standard models of the phone.
