Well, here’s a rumor that just won’t go away. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date is back in the new today, and another report suggests it’s going to be arriving soon due to another big handset gearing up for a release.
In June, a report out of Taiwan claimed the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date would come early and could arrive towards the end of August. As you’d expect, the reason for the early release was said to be due to the iPhone 6 Plus launch as Sammy fears Apple’s big new flagship. While we took that one with a grain of salt, a new source is now reporting the same thing.
Reuters has thrown their hat into the wild world of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release dates, and their sources claim the Galaxy Note 5 will arrive in mid-August. They used the word “launch” not announced, so that means the handset would be coming a lot sooner than expected if this rumor pans out. As with the previous rumor, the reason for the early release is the Apple iPhone 6 Plus and sluggish sales after Q2.
Now it’s time to speculate. We’re still not sold on the idea of an early Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release for one reason — the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. We know that big handset exists and assume it will launch ahead of the Galaxy Note 5. If that’s the case, Samsung will have to launch the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus this month before shoving another high-end handset down their customers throats with the Note 5 launch in August. It also means Sammy would have no big smartphone releases for the rest of the year (4 months) unless you count unknown variants.
Samsung could still “announced” the Note 5 in August to get a leg up on Apple and get those pre-orders started early, and we think that will be the most likely scenario. Otherwise, Samsung risks customer confusion and cannibalizing their own sales by releasing the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5 so close together.
Do you think the Galaxy Note 5 release will arrive early?
