Samsung Gear S2 shown off ahead of launch at IFA
The Samsung Gear A, aka the Orbis has been the subject of speculation for months. Well, it looks like the Samsung Gear S2 will be the name of the new Samsung smartwatch, and it’s set to make its debut at IFA next month.
We knew Samsung would mention its new wearable today during Unpacked 2015, but it was unlikely the device would get a full announcement. The company briefly teased the round Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch, which we’re going to assume is the Orbis and not a variant or spin-off. It doesn’t have a rotating bezel in the traditional sense, but it is going to be a looker.
The Samsung Gear S2 teaser was only around 30 seconds long, but showed a number of different watch faces and function. From the clip we’ve learned it will be compatible with a number of apps from Nike and others, and there will be a full suite of health & fitness features as well. Nothing new was mentioned in regards to the specs, but you can find out what we already know from our coverage of the device previously known as the Orbis.
Samsung’s new teaser has gotten our attention, but it’s brought up more questions than answers. We have no idea how much the Samsung Gear S2 price will be or when you’ll be able to pick one up, but those two questions should be answered during IFA in Berlin.
