Over the past few months, we have spent a considerable amount of time debating the prospect of an Android BlackBerry smartphone. While the Blackberry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite doesn’t rock Android, it has finally been announced for India with a price tag of Rs. 99,990.
The Blackberry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite has been around for a while, and while we knew it would arrive in India like the handsets before it, we weren’t sure when. Consumers will soon be able to get their hands on a stylish, but slightly outdated handset from BlackBerry. That said, the style is evident from the first time you see the device with its graphite colored frame and leather backside.
As with most devices that sport a QWERTY keyboard, the Blackberry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite will have a smaller 3.1-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 720. The power will come from a dual-core Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1.5GHz and 2GB of RAM. You’ll have plenty of internal storage out of the box with 64GB, and it’s expandable through a microSD card slot as well.
Connectivity options for the Blackberry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, 3G HSPA+, and 4G LTE. BlackBerry has never been known for their sharp shooters, but the 8MP snapper on the back should be sufficient for most folks and you’ll get a 2MP on the front for selfies. The Graphite will run BlackBerry OS 10 and will get its juice from a 2,100mAh battery.
BlackBerry didn’t give us a date for the Blackberry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite release in India but said it will be available “soon” from select retailers in the country. With a price tag of Rs. 99,990/€1,381 it won’t be cheap, but it will certainly get attention and is a solid device for the business class.
