It’s safe to say the selfie trend isn’t going away anytime soon, and we’ve seen a number of smartphones with big front-facing snappers this year. The Meitu V4 is going to put all those handsets to shame, as it’s shaping up to be the phone to own if you dig a sharp selfie.
Remember the days when a 5MP front-facing camera was special? It wasn’t that long ago, and while some folks are making due with 2MP selfie snappers, Meitu has decided to go large. The Meitu V4 recently passed through TENAA certification, and the smartphone is set to debut with a massive 21MP front-facing camera.
Looking at the photos, you can tell the Meitu V4 is a bit different. It’s far from a niche device though as sports a 5-inch FHD panel, an octa-core chip clocked at 2GHz, and 3GB of RAM. You’ll need plenty of storage for all those selfies you’ll snap, and thankfully you’ll have it with a whopping 64GB under the hood.
If you like snapping regular photos along with your selfies, you’ll be pleased to know the Meitu V4 has a matching 21MP sensor on its backside as well. In terms of design, the handset won’t be the sveltest device around with dimensions of 152.4mm x 68.8mm x 8.95mm and a weight of 145grams. All the usual connectivity options appear to be present along with 4G LTE, and it listed as running Android 5.1.
The Meitu V4 is expected to arrive in China sometime in the near future, but there has been no word on an international rollout even though our planet is full of selfie lovers. Do you think 21MP is overkill for a selfie or just the right size?
