ZTE’s Axon line hasn’t been around for long, but we are already deep in variant land with the brand. Their latest handset is definitely their largest as the ZTE Axon Max lives up to its namesake with a 6-inch display.
We’ve been impressed with ZTE’s Axon lineup thus far, and we expect to see more of the same when the calendar finally flips over to 2016. Before that happens, the company is introducing another variant of their flagship in the ZTE Axon Max. The smartphone does share some traits with its siblings, but has enough differences to set it apart.
As mentioned, the ZTE Axon Max is a rather large smartphone with a 6-inch panel carrying a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. It’s horsepower comes from a combination of the 64-bit Snapdragon 617 and 3GB of RAM, while the storage capacity is listed at 32GB. Thankfully, it is expandable so you won’t have to turn to the cloud right away.
In terms of snappers, the ZTE Axon Max has a 16MP rear camera on the back and a 13MP sensor on the front. That’s pretty impressive, and you’ll get a fingerprint scanner to go along with Dual SIM support and 4G LTE. The battery is better than average at a whopping 4,140mAh, and it will run Android 5.1 out of the box.
At the moment, the ZTE Axon Max is only going to be available in China, but as with the rest of their variants, there is a great chance we’ll see it get a wider release. The ZTE Axon Max price in China is listed at 2,999 CNY, which shakes out to around $462 in the states.
