Asus Zenfone Zoom release for US set for February
Those who are looking for a camera-centric smartphone may have been waiting patiently, or not so patiently, for the Asus Zenfone Zoom. This was unveiled at CES, not this year but last year, and finally went on sale in Taiwan in December. Now we have news of the Asus Zenfone Zoom release for the US, and it’s set for February.
Quite why it has taken Asus so long to make this device available is anyone’s guess, but at last the company has announced that the phone will hit availability in the US on February 1st. It will be sold exclusively through B&H Photo, and the unlocked Asus Zenfone Zoom price will be $399, which seems pretty reasonable for what it has to offer.
The highlight of the phone is its 13-megapixel rear camera with 3x optical zoom, f/2.7-f/4.8 aperture, laser autofocus, dual-LED flash, and optical image stabilization. It also sports a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. Other Zenfone Zoom specs include a 2.5GHz Intel Atom Z3590 quad-core processor, and a 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 resulting in 403 ppi and featuring Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
It has a sizeable 4GB of RAM, AND 64GB internal storage that can be expanded via microSD to 128GB. A non-removable 3000 mAh battery keeps the juice flowing, and connectivity includes 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. The Asus Zenfone Zoom runs the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with the company’s Zen UI. The single SIM handset measures 158.9mm x 78.84mm x 5-11.95mm.
Are you pleased to hear that after a long wait, US buyers will finally be able to get their hands on the Asus Zenfone Zoom very soon? What do you think of the confirmed US price of the Zenfone Zoom? It’s always interesting to hear from readers so why not send us a comment.
