Casio Smart Outdoor Watch will debut with Android Wear this April

#

Casio has been one of the most popular watch brands in the world, and like other manufacturers, it appears they are getting into the smartwatch game. The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch has just been unveiled at CES 2016, and we are here to give you the scoop.

Swatch, Movado, and TAG Heuer are just a few of the traditional watchmakers that have delved into the smartwatch world last year. We expect to see that number grow drastically this year, and Casio is the latest company to join the fray. The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch isn’t nearly as sassy as the Gear S2 or the Apple Watch, but it does have some features that may be of interest if you’re the outdoorsy type.

The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch carries the model number WSD-F10, and as you can tell from it’s exterior, it’s a bit tougher than your typical smartwatch thanks to the MIL-STD-810 standard. It’s built to withstand the weather, so whether you’re on the trail, track or in the water (up to 50 meters) you won’t have to worry about its performance. It also features a dual layer display with color LCD’s or a monochrome mode in case you want to save some juice. Throw in a compass and pressure sensor and you’ve got yourself a wearable built for the outdoors.

Now for the tech specs. The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch has a 1.32-inch panel with a resolution of 320 x 300, and while the processor and RAM are unlisted, it will Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi connectivity. In normal use you’ll be able to squeeze about 24-hours from the while the Monochrome Timepiece mode extends that do a month. The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch measures 61.7mm x 56.4mm x 15.7mm with a weight of 93grams and runs Android Wear out of the box.

If you’re looking to pick up the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch, you’ll have to wait until it warms up a bit as it’s going to roll out in April. It’s also not going to be cheap at $499, but will be available in several different colors.
