Next month is going to be huge in the smartphone world, but we expect to see plenty of devices released before MWC rolls around. Asus may have jumped the gun with the Asus Live, a new smartphone that’s been released for Brazil.

It’s not uncommon to see handsets launch in smaller markets before going on to a wider release. Asus has done this plenty of times, but the Far East is usually where those smartphones land first. That’s not the case with the Asus Live as it as launched in Brazil with mid-range specs and a reasonable price tag. The specifications aren’t going to turn many heads, but it could prove to be a popular device if you can get by without a few key features.

Asus went mid-range with the Asus Live which means you’re looking at a handset with a 5-inch IPS display sporting a resolution of 1,280 x 720. Beneath the glass, you will find a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580 and 2GB of RAM to go along with 16GB of expandable internal storage. The rear camera clocks in at 8MP while the front-facing snapper is listed at 2MP. Most of the usual connectivity options are present with the exception of 4G, so you’ll have to get by with 3G. The Dual-SIM handset runs Android 5.1 out of the box and is powered by a 2,080mAh battery.

As mentioned, the Asus Live is only available in Brazil at the moment, but it could see a wider release like most of the company’s handsets. The price shakes out to around $210 in the states, and currently comes in three color schemes in Yellow, Magenta or Blue.
