We expect to see plenty of new wearables this year, and Samsung will probably be responsible for a half-dozen of them. A device dubbed the Samsung Triathlon Fitness Tracker could be one of their first new gadgets of 2016, and it’s a device that is going to look familiar.
Photos of a new wearable from Samsung have emerged, and it’s said to be called the Samsung Triathlon internally. The fitness tracker has the model number Samsung SM-R150 and looks suspiciously like the recently released Gear S2. That’s a good thing if you like a bit of style in your fitness tracker, and it could mean a cheaper price point as it will be missing a few features.
Details on the Samsung Triathlon Fitness Tracker are light, but it will have many of the same fitness-oriented features found on the Gear S2. That means the cool rotating bezel, heart rate scanner, step counter, and the usual sensors are present along with some new additions. One of those could be the company’s new Bio Processor, and we assume body fat measuring and various other fitness-related features will come into play as well.
CES may be over, but MWC 2016 is right around the corner. That could be where we get the first official details on the Samsung Triathlon Fitness Tracker as we don’t expect to see a proper follow-up to the Gear S2 until later this year.
