We seem to be seeing the arrival of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for an increasing amount of devices now. We have further news today, as the LG G Stylo and HTC One M8 on T-Mobile are now receiving the Marshmallow update. If you haven’t yet received notification about this update, it should be arriving for your device very soon.
T-Mobile US has now posted support documents for Marshmallow on the HTC One M8 and LG G Stylo. The official carrier news is that both of these updates started rolling out yesterday. However, T-Mobile does point out that it’s a gradual roll out so it might take a few days for the OTA (over-the-air) update to arrive for all device owners.
This is a major update for your HTC One M8 on T-Mobile or your LG G Stylo, as it brings many benefits and new features. Just some of these are Google Now on Tap, the Doze mode, and refreshed app permissions. There are also performance optimizations and much more. T-Mobile’s HTC One M8 Marshmallow update brings it to software version 6.20.531.5. If you have T-Mobile’s LG G Stylo the update brings it to version H63120b.
When the OTA update is ready for your device you’ll receive a prompt to install it. Alternatively you can check manually by heading to Settings on your device, followed by About, and then Software Update. Before updating you should ensure you have a WiFi connection and at least 50% battery life on your handset.
It’s worth noting that T-Mobile says that as it’s a large update it could take 20 minutes or longer to download and install it. The size of the update for the HTC One M8 is 1.14GB and the size for the LG G Stylo is 767MB. You can check out fuller information on the official T-Mobile support pages for the HTC One M8 or LG G Stylo at these links.
Do you have either the LG G Stylo or HTC One M8 on T-Mobile? Have you already received the Marshmallow update for your device, or are you still patiently (or not so patiently) waiting?
