There are plenty of budget smartphones available for the market in India, and now the Intex Aqua G2 has officially launched. It has a cheap price combined with low-end specs, so basically you’ll be getting what you pay for. Nevertheless the entry-level smartphone may suit those looking for a first smartphone or even a backup handset.
The price of the Intex Aqua G2 is just Rs. 1,990 and it’s offered in Champagne and Grey color options. Specifications are nothing to write home about and include an RDA 8810PL 32-bit single-core processor and Vivante GC860 graphics. It has a small 2.8-inch LCD display with QVGA resolution of 320 x 240. There’s 256MB of RAM, 512MB of internal storage (expandable via microSD), and a 1100 mAh battery.
Further specs include a VGA fixed focus rear camera including LED flash, and another VGA fixed focus camera at the front. The dual SIM phone has 2G connectivity (unfortunately no 3G or 4G) with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, FM radio, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It runs the dated Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The handset measures 105mm x 57.4mm x 11mm so you’re not looking at a slim device.
Interestingly the image of the handset shows an area below the rear camera that looks as though it might be a fingerprint sensor, although that has not been clarified. Intex Technologies Mobile Business Head Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, said of the launch,
“With Aqua G2, we are targeting feature phone users who are yet to switch to smartphones. Aqua G2 is a brilliant device having all the required features, performance capability for any first-time user to get the smartphone experience. We are confident that Aqua G2 at such affordable price point will further enhance our market share and tap the potential feature phone consumers.”
Are you looking for a very affordable first smartphone? If so, would you consider the Intex Aqua G2?
