We’ve seen a large number of smartphones debut with fingerprint scanners this year, and you can add one more to the list. The Intex Aqua Secure has been announced for India, and it will be Intex’s first handset with a fingerprint sensor.
It’s safe to say fingerprint sensors are no longer considered the exotic feature they once were as the prices have dropped on components allowing more manufacturers to get in on the action. Hopefully, we can say the same about QHD panels next year. Displays aside, the Intex Aqua Secure specifications make it well worth a look if you’re in the market for an entry-level smartphone with a couple of standout features.
The fingerprint scanner is the main draw for the Intex Aqua Secure, but it has a couple of other features you generally don’t find on device’s in its class. It will have a USB Type-C port and sports 4G LTE connectivity as well. In terms of design, the handset is small, but thick with measurements of 133.5mm x 66.5mm x 9.4mm with a weight of 130grams.
The Intex Aqua Secure may be a bit thick, but it should fit comfortably in your hand as it’s a 4.5-inch device with a resolution of 854 x 480. The chip powering the show is listed as the MediaTek MT6735M, which is backed by 1GB while the storage is listed at 8GB but expandable through the usual means. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G HSPA+, and the aforementioned 4G LTE. The Intex Aqua Secure will pull its power from a 1,900mAh battery and runs Android 5.1.
While the Intex Aqua Secure specifications may not be that impressive, the price coupled with that fingerprint scanner and 4G connectivity make it an option. The handset will be available in Gold and Grey in the region, and carries a price tag of Rs. 6,499.
