Remember Meizu m3 that was launched a couple of months back. The device was a great budget phone and gave the best bang for your buck. Meizu is back at it again and has officially announced the Meizu m3s. It provides very few minor upgrades to the m3 but it is still a great buy at just $106. The most significant update to the phone is the metal body. There are no cosmetic changes to the phone apart from the slightly thicker body in the m3s. This is mainly due to the fact that the m3s has a slightly larger battery.
Apart from the metal body and the slightly increased thickness of the m3s, there are no other major changes. The processor featured on the Meizu m3s is the same MediaTek MT6750 octa-core chipset with 2 options for storage and memory. The 2GB/16GB version is available for $106 and the 3GB/32GB version is available for $20 more. There is also the option for expanding the storage via microSD.
The 5-inch 720p display with 2.5D glass on the Meizu m3 makes its way to the m3s as well. Even the cameras used in the m3s is brought over from the m3. The f2.2 13MP rear camera and the f2.0 5MP rear camera is the exact same configuration from the previous model. The 3,020mAh battery is a mere 150mAh more than the m3.
Going by the specifications, it looks like the Meizu m3s will replace the m3. It is only logical to go for a phone that sports a metal body and slightly larger battery for virtually the same price. Meizu has been making some great phones in the past few months and they are trying to become a strong player in the smartphone industry. 2016 appears to be a really good year for them.
