The big flagships may have already rolled out earlier this year, but June is turning out to be a big month in the smartphone world as well. The Xiaomi Mi Max is one of many handsets set to launch this month, and today we learned when that would be if you reside in India.
Plenty of smartphone leaks come from sketchy sources although we occasionally get something official from high up in the food chain. Today’s news of the Xiaomi Mi Max release date for India is as legit as it gets considering it comes from Hugo Barra, the VP of the company. Barra sent out a quick tweet with a video teaser, and if you’ve been waiting on the Mi Max, it’s coming on June 30th.
Something BIG is coming to blow you away on 30th June, Indian Mi fans! Stay tuned 😎https://t.co/xBQyNscrCo

If you missed our previous coverage of the Xiaomi Mi Max, here’s what you can expect. The handset sports a 6.4-inch IPS display wit curved glass and a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. Beneath that large slab of glass beats the Snapdragon 650 (or the 652) along with 4GB of RAM, and the storage is more than sufficient at a whopping 128GB. Just in case you need more, there is also a microSD card slot.
On the backside of the Xiaomi Mi Max, you will find a 16MP sensor with a Dual-Tone LED flash and PDAF. The front-facing snapper isn’t nearly as saucy, but solid at 5MP and sports an 85-degree wide-angle lens. Connectivity options for the Xiaomi Mi Max include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 4G LTE, and a Fingerprint Scanner. The Dual SIM handset will sip its power from a 4,850mAh battery and will arrive running MIUI 8 which is based on Android 6.0.
While Xiaomi hasn’t tipped their hand towards the Xiaomi Mi Max price for India, we have a rough idea of what to expect based on the China release. In the region the smartphone is priced at 1,499 Yuan, which is around $230 bucks in the states or Rs. 15,280 for India. While that may be a little steep for some consumers, it’s well worth a look if you need a massive handset with top-tier specifications.
