Oppo has dropped more handset than usual in 2017, and it looks like they are preparing to expand their reach… for one handset at least. The Oppo A37 is going global and is headed to various locales with a price tag of around $199.
Last month, we learned that the Oppo A37 was bound for India but no one was certain about other regions outside of China at the time. It appears that the company had big plans in store for the smartphone, which they have just announced is getting a wider release. Details on which regions will receive the phone are still a bit sketchy at the moment, but it’s going to be a fairly affordable solution wherever it lands.
In the day and age of the phablet, the Oppo A37 is a bit of a rarity with its smaller 5-inch 720p display. The overall dimensions show its light and skinny as well at 143.1mm x 71mm x 7.68mm with a weight of 136grams. As for the horsepower, it comes from the 64-bit Snapdragon 410, which is clocked at 1.2GHz and 2GB of RAM.
The Oppo A37 will have 16GB of internal storage when it arrives, but you can raise that number significantly thanks to a microSD card slot. On the backside of the handset, you’ll find a solid 8MP sensor with an LED flash while the front-facing snapper is listed at 5MP. All the usual connectivity options come into play as well along with 4G LTE and Dual-SIM slots. The Oppo A37 sips its power from a 2,630mAh battery and runs ColorOS 3.0, a forked version of Android 5.1.
At this time, you can scoop up the Oppo A37 for the equivalent of $199 in China or around $215 in Singapore. One would assume the price tag will stay close as it lands in other regions, the first of which will be Indonesia on June 25.
