Cool1 Dual prices begin at $166 ahead of August 24 launch

#

We knew Coolpad and LeEco were up to something, and today we finally got to see the result of their first team-up. The Cool1 Dual smartphone is the name of the handset, and it is definitely one to keep an eye on due to its specs.

LeEco and Coolpad have been dropping details on their new handset for a few weeks. While they didn’t paint a full picture, they did make us intrigued for the device’s arrival. Turns out, it was well worth the wait as the Cool1 Dual is a looker with plenty of style thanks to a slick metal unibody. It looks different enough to stand out in the crowd as well, something that is never a bad thing in the day and age of copycat devices.

Looks aside, the Cool1 Dual will have plenty of pop with an octa-core Snapdragon 652. The chip will get a boost from 3GB or 4GB of RAM depending on how much you want to spend, while the storage is spacious with 32GB or 64GB of internal space. The smartphone is also in the phablet class with a 5.5-inch IPS in-cell display that sports a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080.

We’ve seen plenty of smartphones with Dual Camera setups over the past year, and the Cool1 Dual will join that club with a Dual 13MP sensor setup on its backside. That camera also comes with a Dual-Tone LED flash, PDAF and can handle 4K video to boot. The front-facing camera is no slouch at 8MP and has an 80-degree wide-angle lens.

Overall, the Cool1 Dual measures 152mm x 74.8mm x 8.2mm and has a weight of 167grams. All the usual boxes are ticked when it comes to connectivity with a Fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C charging port. The handset will pull its power from a 4,060mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 with EUI 5.6 slathered on top.

The Cool1 Dual is ready to scoop up on pre-order at several online e-tailers and directly through Coolpad. The handset is priced at $166 for the base model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the 4GB/32GB variant will set you back $226. The beastly 4GB model with 64GB of storage is listed at $256 and is obviously the best bang for your buck. All models will be available in Silver, Gold and Rose Gold beginning on August 24.
