Haier may not ring many bells when it comes to smartphones or slates, but today won’t be the first time we have touched on the brand’s mobiles. At IFA 2016, the company has unveiled a new handset in the Haier L55S, which will soon be available to purchase in Europe.
The last time we covered a mobile device from Haier, it was the Haier Esteem i90 which sported solid specs and LTE. The Haier L55S hails from the company’s “Leisure” lineup, and the specs list shows it belongs in the mid-range class. That said, the smartphone has plenty of flagship features including a fingerprint scanner and a thin Aluminum shell.
The Haier L55S is going to be thin and light at 7.55mm and weight only 135grams. It’s in the compact class with a smaller 5-inch IPS display which sports a resolution of 1,280 x 720. Beneath the glass, you’ll find a 64-bit quad-core processor of unknown origins backed by 2GB of RAM. The storage clocks in at 16GB, but thankfully is expandable with a microSD card slot.
While we don’t know the size of the front-facing snapper on the Haier L55S, the rear camera is solid at 13MP with AF and an LED flash. A fingerprint scanner rests right below that sensor, which will allow you to unlock your device with a digit while providing an extra layer of security. Other features include Bluetooth, HotKnot, Wi-Fi, and Android 6.0.
Details are still rolling in on the Haier L55S smartphone and all the other tech at IFA 2016, but this one could be one to watch if the price is right. Unfortunately, we don’t know how much that will be, but the phone will debut in Silver, Gold, Grey and Rose Gold for consumers in Europe this month.
