Abyssrium Review
Most tapping or clicking games involve questing through a dungeon or battling endless waves of enemies. Occasionally, we see something different, but we have yet to see anything quite like AbyssRium. It is a clicker by nature, but it’s oh so much more than that.
Peaceful is one word that generally doesn’t come to mind with clicker games. Most require you to frantically tap away mindlessly to obtain a form of currency or progress through the game. You can click and tap till your fingers bleed in AbyssRium, but you can also just sit back and enjoy the ride. It’s a tale of woe about a lonely little stone at the bottom of the sea, and your only goal is to make him a bit happier.
We don’t know why the sentiment being in AbyssRium is lonely, but he will frequently remind you of that. His underwater digs are sparse at first, but after a few taps, you’ll be able to liven things up. It all starts with Coral, which is the first unlockable you’ll get. The Coral can be leveled up just like your rock, and grows a bit each time. It also adds vitality, which is the games for of currency and used to level everything up. In addition to Coral, you’ll also be able to add Starfish, Anemones, Sea Flowers and more.
As AbyssRium is an underwater game, you’ll get to unlock a wide variety of fish. These suckers are expensive starting out, so it will take a while to build up a small army of finned friends for the rock. Who also may or may not eat the fish… he’s a bit mysterious. If fish aren’t your thing, you’ll be pleased to know Sharks, Whales, Dolphins, Turtles and plenty of other sea creatures can keep you company as well. If you have enough dough…
AbyssRium also has a “Magic” tab that offers up free hearts for watching a flick or various other perks. The store tab is self-explanatory as you can buy Gems and packages of fish. That said, there are plenty of free offers and opportunities to get free hearts and gems. Many of fish have vitality bubbles you can pop and random chests and other oddities drop down from above as well. The game will generate funds while you are away, but there’s plenty to key on in when you are active.
While AbyssRium may look like a typical clicker, there’s more to it than meets the eye. You can take photos from various angles for rewards, and there are even photo contests you can enter against other users for a large payout. That was pretty cool feature, and there are some excellent rock setups out there. The other feature we loved was the VR function. Yup, you can click a button and dive into the little world you created, something we definitely did not expect.
AbyssRium may not be the deepest game around….. but it’s quite a bit of fun if clickers are your thing. There is a lot of depth when it comes to the unlockable fish and coral although things a bit shallow in terms of the gameplay. That’s not a knock on the game, as it’s something you’ll find in all clickers or tapping games regardless of the how things play out. Needless to say, you can stay busy for ages with this one, and it’s always nice to go back and power up your rock after a few days.
If you enjoy games of this nature or are really just looking for something different, we recommend giving AbyssRium a go. You can pick up AbyssRium for free on Google Play or the App Store.
