It has been a while since we heard anything about the Samsung Foldable phone. While we wait, a new patent has appeared showing a Samsung Foldable Tablet, which proves the company still has its sights set on a flexible future.
It has been a rough month for Samsung. From the Galaxy Note 7 recall to the Samsung Washing Machine news, they have seen better days. Once sure fire way to turn their fortunes around is the Samsung Foldable Phone, something we’ve been hearing about for over a year. While we aren’t sure what the recall madness will mean for future tech, they do have plans for a new foldable slate.
A new patent filing has come to light today, which shows an interesting option on the Samsung Foldable Tablet. The company has thrown a kickstand into the mix, and while there are no technical specifications given, it gives us a look at what their engineers are thinking. The device shown has three panels and which unfold into a tablet; one with a keyboard on the backside, which makes it a flexible 2-in-1 of sorts. The design is interesting, but that doesn’t mean it will ever make it to market.
When new tech like this arrives, there are going to be a lot of issues to address, especially when it gets into consumers hands. As Sammy won’t want anyone to lose their digits, batteries will obviously be a concern after the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recall. Hopefully, the debacle won’t push their flexible tech back into 2018 although we have a feeling Samsung will want to bring their flexible phones to market sooner than later after what’s happened this year.
