We often poke fun at smartphones names. The Ulefone Tiger moniker definitely got our attention, and it’s one to watch if you are in the market for a mid-ranger with a solid design and specifications.
When one thinks Tiger, they think of a killing machine and a beast of the wild. In smartphone terms, that would be a flagship to most folks whereas a sloth might classify as an entry-level device. Animals aside, the Tiger may not be the fastest handset around, but the Ulefone Tiger specs show it’s no slouch either. It’s also a classy looking handset with a metal shell, and while it’s a bit hefty, there is a reason for that.
The Ulefone Tiger measures 155.8mm x 77.8mm x 9.35mm and has a weight of 155grams. That’s due to the battery, which clocks in at 4,200mAh. As for the display, it’s listed at 5.5-inches and sports a resolution of 1,280 x 720. You’ll find a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 humming away under the hood along with 2GB of RAM. The storage is listed at 16GB, but expandable through the usual means.
On the back of the Ulefone Tiger, you’ll find a fingerprint scanner. Right above that sits an 8MP Sony IMX219, which is interpolated up to 13MP. The same treatment is applied to the front-facing sensor as it’s a 5MP unit bumped up to 8MP. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 4G LTE, Dual SIM slots, and GPS. The handset is listed as running Android 6.0 which should be fairly stock based on our experience with devices of this nature.
The Ulefone Tiger will be available in three different hues with Sky Black, Champagne Gold and Space Grey. There’s been no price given of the handset at this time, but it’s listed at Gearbest where you can request an arrival notice when it becomes available.
