The Huawei Nova and the Nova Plus were announced during the IFA conference which took place in Berlin earlier this year and today, the Huawei Nova just became available for purchase in China for a price tag of approximately $310. Huawei is a Chinese tech giant which is coming up in the world lightning-fast and in this writer’s opinion, they’re already making Samsung sweat bullets. If you’re into fun-factoids, Nova means “new”, but not in Chinese.

Now, getting back to our news story, let’s see what’s up with the Huawei Nova. The smartphone has a 5 inches wide display of full HD 1080p resolution and design wise, is pretty similar to the last year’s Nexus 6P, which of course, it was built by Huawei. If you are a fan of the Nexus line of smartphones and you’re not into Pixels (especially the price-tag), well, the Huawei Nova would do the trick. The device weighs 146 grams and it’s 7.1 millimeters thick, boasting a metal chassis (89% metal, there’s some plastic and glass into the mix also).

The Huawei Nova will be available in 2 flavors. The base Nova will have 3 gigabytes of RAM and 32 GB of native storage capacity, whilst the higher-end version will come with 4 GB of RAM and 64 gigabytes of internal storage. Both of them are running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 system on chip, but, unlike the old Nexus, the Huawei Nova offers a micro SD card expansion slot. The main camera is a 12MP 1/2.8 ” f/2.0 variety whilst the secondary has an 8 MP sensor. According to the company, the main snapper comes with a fast-focus feature,being capable of locking onto the target in 2 tenths of a second.

Last but not least, the Huawei Nova comes with dual SIM capability and supports 4G LTE networks. The droid runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 on top, it has a 3020 mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor.
