If you have been longing for the Nokia brand to make a comeback, your wait may be coming to an end soon. A new report suggests the company will soon unleash a new Nokia smartphone, and we may see it before the end of the year.
If you’ve been out of the loop for a few years, Nokia is no longer the company you grew to love. We won’t delve into all the details, but currently HMD Global is the company that can actually manufacture handsets carrying the Nokia moniker. Their partnership with Microsoft was bound to produce something soon, and we may see not one, but two new Nokia smartphones before the end of the year.
James Rutherfoord, CEO of the Asia-Pacific branch of Microsoft has said that HMD will produce two new Nokia smartphones before the end of the year. No details were given as to what may be under the hood, but they are assumed to be feature phones and not anything special. On that note, Rutherfoord is also quoted as saying at least two additional Nokia handsets would arrive by Q2 of next year. Those could be beefier as it allows for more time to bring them to market.
FIH Mobile is expected to produce the two new Nokia smartphones set to debut this year. If that’s the case HMD could already be working on the next models, which hopefully won’t fall into the feature phone spectrum. While it’s great to see something new roll out from the company, they low and mid-range market if crowded, so they will need to make a splash sooner than later.
