Earlier today we told you about the stunning Xiaomi Mi Mix. That wasn’t the only smartphone the company launched as the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is also official. While it’s not quite as cutting edge as its sibling, we think you’ll be pleased by the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 specs and price tag.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has been a long time coming. The smartphone has been leaking for months, but today we can put those rumors to bed and break things down. It doesn’t have the QHD panel or edgeless display of the Mi Mix although there are some similarities under the hood. There’s also the slick display which has Edges like a familiar device that’s currently no longer in production.
Looking for a Note 7 replacement? Xiaomi has something for you as the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 sports a 5.7-inch FHD panel with a curved display. Not 2.5D either, but actual edges. It’s a good looking handset with an aluminum frame and measures 156.2mm x 77.3mm x 7.6mm with a weight of 166grams. As for the processor, you’ll get the Snapdragon 821.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 comes in two varieties one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and the other with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A Sony IMX318 sensor clocks in at 22.56MP on the rear and has a Dual-Tone LED flash, EIS and can handle 4K video. The front-facing snapper is an 8MP Sony IMX258 with a 76-degree field of view. Needless to say, it’s going to take great photos from the front or back.
Connectivity options for the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 include Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi, and 4G VoLTE. It will have a USB Type-C port for quick charging and sports a fingerprint scanner on the home button as well. Rounding things out for the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 are Dual SIM slots, 24-bit audio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 4,000mAh or 4,070mAh battery. The handset will run Android 6.0 out of the box.
Whereas the Mi Mix isn’t going to be easy to get, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will get a much wider roll out in time. That said, it’s going to be available in China initially with the 4GB model listed at $410 and the 6GB edition at $486. There is a “global” version as well in the 6GB model for $516. All three will roll out in China on November 1st in Glacier Silver or Piano Black.
