CES 2017 in Las Vegas is currently churning out information, and Huawei has taken the opportunity to announce the Mate 9 US arrival as January 6. Various online sellers will be offering the device, among them Amazon, B&H, Best Buy, and Newegg. The press release mentions that Amazon’s cloud-based voice service feature Alexa will be available for the phone at some point early this year with a software update. The handset is to be offered in Space Gray or Moonlight Silver colors, and the Hauwei Mate 9 price in the US has been set at $599. The latter might make this phone tempting for those affected by the Galaxy Note 7 debacle.
Other benefits of the phone are a dual rear camera set-up consisting of a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and a 12-megapixel RGB sensor. Features include superior 2x magnification and Hybrid Zoom, while up front there’s an 8-megapixel camera. The handset is juiced by a sizeable 4000 mAh battery and features SuperCharge technology meaning 20 minutes can deliver a day’s charge. The Huawei Mate 9 has the usual connectivity options including 4G LTE, WiFi, and Bluetooth, as well as USB-Type C. Add on 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and you’ve got a very nice package.
