When major Android updates arrive for devices it can be interesting finding out all of the new features and changes on offer. Although the official Android Nougat update is slowly reaching units of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, it’s worth pointing out that it will take varying amounts of time to reach all models in all regions. Carrier variants often take a longer time to receive OS updates. Therefore some owners of the devices will already have received Nougat but others will still be eagerly waiting. Recently we shared a video that showed the feature changes you can expect for the Galaxy S7 Nougat update. This time we’re concentrating purely on the differences the software update makes to the camera.
The Galaxy S7 Edge Android Nougat vs Marshmallow camera performance is shown on the 10-minute video that we’ve embedded below. It begins with video footage shown in split screen for an easy comparison. The video capture taken with the S7 Edge on Android Nougat is shown on the left while the footage taken with the phone on Android Marshmallow is shown on the right. It begins with video taken outdoors with the quality of the focusing appearing much the same. However, there is a distinct difference in the color and brightness of the Nougat footage.
The video continues by showing close-up detail and moves indoors to show the difference in lower-light conditions. After this you’ll see a series of stills, again displayed in split-screen. Depending on the lighting conditions there appears to be more detail in some of the pictures although this varies between Nougat and Marshmallow. The reviewer makes some interesting observations in this respect.
