HTC U11 Plus announced!
HTC had its hard times the past year, as low innovation and hardly any new features lowered the sales. And with the purchase of the mobile division team by Google, it was predicted that the company will stop selling HTC branded smartphones. But, they are still in the game, with the HTC U11 being their most recent success. Now, they want to try the same with the HTC U11 Plus. Let’s see what this device can offer.
Design
The bezel-less displays were the biggest hits of this year, and HTC doesn’t want to miss the opportunity either. The front of the device is filled with the 6” Quad HD Super LCD panel, capped at 2560×1440 resolution. The chins are small, and the side bezels are almost non-existent. On first look, you could mistake it with the recently announced Pixel 2 Xl, when you are looking it at the front. On the back, you will find the single camera and flash, the fingerprint sensor and the HTC logo. It features glass finish, so you will probably need a case or skin to protect it.
Features
The HTC U11 Plus is powered by the flagship standard components from this year. Octa – core Snapdragon 825 processor, 4 or 6GB RAM and 64 or 128GB internal storage. You could add a MicroSD card, in case the on-board storage is not enough for you. A big improvement over its predecessor is the battery. This device will feature a 3930mAh battery, that could keep your phone alive for up to two days.
The rear camera is a 12MP sensor wit f/1.7 and optical image stabilization. And although HTC did not jump on the dual-lens bandwagon, the camera still delivers excellent shots. HDR Boost can enhance that further, making all of your pictures stunning to watch. Videographers will also love this device, as it can shoot in 4k resolution. Slow motion video is also present, capped at 1080p@120fps. On the front, the 8MP f/2.0 sensor will be more than enough for all of you selfie lovers.
The device will feature the latest version of Android, Oreo 8.0, with almost no additional bloatware or features. The squeezable sides are here to stay, and this time the device is IP68 water and dust resistant. The famous Boomsound speakers will be present, and HTC is also bundling a pair of USonic noise-cancelling earphones, a perfect fit for commuters.
Pricing and availability
The preorders for the HTC U11 Plus are going to start at the 20th of November on HTC’s website. The device will be priced at £699 (~$927), which puts it in the ranks of the Pixel 2 and Galaxy Note 8. There will be few color options, with Translucent being the most popular one, as it gives the device a look like it came from the 90s.
