Oppo might not strike up in your heads the first time you hear it. But in the recent years, it got more and more talks involving it – because of their great budget smartphones. Oppo is one of those companies that give you the best value out of your money. The recently announced Oppo R11s is one of those devices too, so let’s see what it can offer.
Design
The Oppo R11s does look gorgeous, but unless you see the branding on the back, you could mistake it for some other smartphone. On the front, the 6” AMOLED 1080p display with 18:9 aspect ratio and the minimal bezels fill most of it. The dual camera and fingerprint sensor are placed on the back, with the Oppo logo right under it. The red version does bring up the color on the top and bottom edges slightly, which does look beautiful.
Features
The Oppo R11s is not going to disappoint you in the performance aspect. The octa-core Snapdragon 660 accompanied by the Adreno 512 GPU and 4GB RAM will handle any task you through at it. The 64GB internal storage should be enough for the average user, but a microSD expansion slot is available in case you need more. All of these are powered by the 3200mAh battery, capable of last you through a whole day.
The cameras are the biggest update from the regular R11, following the current dual lens trend. The Oppo R11s features one 16MP and 20MP lens with f/1.7 aperture, with the second lens targeted towards low-light shots. 2x lossless zoom is also available on both lens, and the pictures coming from them are beautiful. I could say that the pictures lack a bit more color saturation, but you won’t mind it that much. The front camera is also 20MP with f/2.0 aperture, so all of your selfies should also come out great. There is also a Beauty mode that uses AI to improve them.
The Oppo R11s is running on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat version with a ColorOS 3.2 on top. It is snappy, though Oppo did not mention anything about an Android Oreo upgrade, so that could be a bummer for some. There is no water or dust resistance, but that shouldn’t be an odd thing at this price range. There is Gorilla Glass 5 on top of the display, so that should make it more prone to scratches. Fast Charging is also available on the device, so you can quickly top up whenever you need it.
Pricing and availability
There is still no set pricing for the R11s, but we can expect to be around $475. It will be available globally, with China being the first country to have it. It will come in three color options: Black, Champagne and Red. Personally, the red pretty much is my favorite, but the other options are beautiful as well. It will be available for purchase from November 10th.
