The new year is right around the corner, and you know what that means. New rumors and leaks spreading around the Internet, just to satisfy your needs. And while there are still little rumors about the most anticipated flagships like the Galaxy S9 or LG G7, there are still some noteworthy devices worth reporting for. The A – series from Samsung provide excellent quality and premium hardware for a reasonable price. And it is one of the most popular lines after their premium offering. That is why Samsung will continue updating that line. The Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) is first on the list. Let’s see what could this device offer.
Design
This will be the first Plus version in the A – series, and seeing from their past devices, it will be targeted for power users. But back on the design, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus will an all glass design that will reassemble much of the looks from the S8. The front will be filled by the 6” FullHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Sadly, it won’t be curved like the S8, but that will probably remain exclusive to the flagship line. Nevertheless, this panel is gorgeous to look at, and we all know how good Samsung displays are. As a matter of fact, even iPhone is using a Samsung display in the iPhone X! There are minor bezels around the display, but that won’t be bothered by many users. The fingerprint sensor is on the bottom one, which is better placed than the one on the S8.
Features
The Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus will feature an octa-core Exynos 7885 chip, which is capable of doing everything you throw at it. Accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, the Galaxy A8 Plus is for sure a power user’s dream. As for the main source of power, the A8 Plus will feature a 3500mAh battery. That could be somewhat disappointing, since all of the larger screens use up a lot of battery. Nevertheless, the capacity should be enough for a full day of regular use.
There is little information about the cameras, but worth mentioning. The rear sensor will be a single 16MP lens, while the front will feature a dual – lens setup with 8MP lens. Unfortunately, there is nothing more available, nor there are some sample shots to comment on. But, knowing Samsung, the cameras will most likely be good, with increased color saturation. And since they featured a dual lens setup on the front, there will be an accent on the famous Portrait Mode.
The device will come with Android Oreo 8.0, skinned by Samsung. In the past, this skin slowed down Samsung’s phones by a lot, but it has improved a lot in the past years and it is packed with useful features. On the other hand, there won’t be any Bixby button or integration of it inside the device.
Pricing and availability
Of course, pricing is still not known for the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus, but there is a possible reveal date. It is expected the whole A – series of smartphones to be revealed on CES next month, a day before it starts.
