Recently, we wrote an article about the Vivo X20 Plus UD, the company’s most recent smartphone. And that device is the first in the world to feature a fingerprint sensor placed under the display. It is an incredible piece of technology, and I’d you like to find out more about it, you can check the article here. But apparently, Vivo has no intents in stopping there. We already stumbled upon rumors about the Vivo Xplay 7. And from those details, we can see that this could be the first smartphone that might be truly bezel-less!
Design
Obviously, since the bezel-less display will be the main attraction of this device, we expect the design to be beautiful. From the leaked images, we can see that the device will have a metal finish with curved edges. As I’ve already mentioned, we can see that the display is stretched out across the whole front of the device. The expected screen-to-body ratio is 92.9 percent, which is incredibly big. Just for reference, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has 91.3 percent, and we’ve all seen how gorgeous that smartphone is. The only part of the front that isn’t a screen is the cutouts for the front camera and sensors. There are no exact specifications of the display, but we do know that it might be 4k, so that’s a plus. On the back, you will find the familiar look as many other smartphones. Cameras in the top, logo in the middle.
Features
Sadly, details about the hardware inside the Vivo Xplay 7 are also low. But, from those that we do know, the device will be the company’s most promising flagship. The processor inside the device will be the Snapdragon 845, the chipset that you will see on every flagship this year. Going forward to the RAM, the Vivo Xplay 7 will pack 10GB of it. Just for a reference, the OnePlus 5T has 8GB, the most RAM available on a smartphone today. Speaking of memory, the internal memory that will ship with the device will be capped at 512GB. That is also huge, and completing the picture, we can see that this device might be even better than your average budget laptops.
Unfortunately, this is where the details about the hardware stop. There is no information about the cameras or the battery, but that doesn’t stop us to speculate a bit. For the battery, we should be expecting anything around 4000mAh. The 4k display will drain the battery a lot, so a bigger battery should be expected. Moving to the cameras, we do know that there will be a dual setup on the back, with a single lens on the front. From previous devices, we could suggest that the second lens on the rear will be a monochrome one. Nevertheless, the cameras should be good, if the software on the inside makes a good use of them. Speaking of the software, we should be expecting Android Oreo out of the box, with Vivo’s own skin on top of it.
Pricing and availability
Again, since these are all rumors, take everything with a grain of salt. There is no information about pricing or release date, but we do expect an announcement in the following months.
