Samsung is one of the best companies in the world of smartphones, and all of you probably know that. They offer a wide range of smartphones, tablets and other products available for us, the customers. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus are the company’s most recent devices, offering some of the best features and hardware available right now. But, they also offer other smartphones depending on your budget. The J family is best known for their budget to midrange devices. Today, we’re taking a look at the Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo, the latest device from this range. Let’s begin!
Design
Starting with the design, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo is nothing that far away from the familiar Samsung look. On the front, you will find the 5.5” AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 resolution. Sadly, it doesn’t have 18:9 aspect ratio, meaning that you won’t get the tall display every other smartphone has. But, excluding the top and bottom bezels, the side ones are extremely thin. The bottom bezels store the capacitive buttons, with the clickable home/fingerprint sensor button. Rotating to the back, you will find the camera setup in the middle of the top part. The Samsung logo sits proudly in the middle. The device is designed from aluminum and features curved edges and lines. The overall experience shouldn’t differ that much from a premium device when you’re holding it in the hand.
Features
On the inside, you’re getting pretty good hardware for the price. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo features the octa-core Exynos 7870, a capable processor that should handle almost any task. It is accompanied by 4GB of RAM, more than enough even for the most notorious multitaskers. Speaking of memory, you’re also getting 32GB of internal storage, a decent amount to store your files. If this is not enough for you, you can easily expand it with a MicroSD card. Finishing the internals, the battery found on the J7 Duo is a 3000mAh. It can easily last you through a day and it’s removable, so you can easily replace it with a new one.
Going on to the cameras, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo’s features a dual-camera setup on the back. The combination of 13MP + 5MP with f/1.9 aperture should take pretty good pictures. And knowing Samsung well, we can expect for them to have nice dynamic range and greater color saturation. On the front, you’re going to get an 8MP shooter with f/1.9 aperture and accompanied by a LED flash. The sensor should be more than enough for your selfies, and it packs some useful features. One of them is Face Unlock, in case you don’t want to use the fingerprint sensor.
Finishing with the software, the device is going to ship witn Android Oreo 8.0 out-of-the-box. That means that you won’t wait for Samsung to update your device, as some of their most recent devices. It will be skinned with Touchwiz, but the skin came a long way. It is no longer slowing the phone as it once did, and it is packing some useful features.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo is currently available in India, with more countries to follow. It is priced around $260.
