Xiaomi brought many great devices and smartphones, that offer the best specs for every price range. Aside from that, they also look pretty good and have premium build quality. They’re trying pretty hard to expand outside the Asian market, especially in the western countries. Recently, they announced new stores across some European countries, with the US being their next frontier. And the steady release of smartphones does make that expandability more reachable. Now, the company announced the Xiaomi Mi 6X, their newest flagship smartphone. Let’s take a look at all the details about it.

Design

Starting with the design, we can see again that Xiaomi is taking care of this part perfectly. The Xiaomi Mi 6X features an aluminum build that feels premium in the hand. The curved edges and lines are designed perfectly. On the front, you will find the 5.99” LCD display with HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The bigger aspect ratio reduced the size of the bezels a lot, especially the side ones. Rotating to the back, you will find the dual camera setup in the top corner. The fingerprint sensor is placed in the natural middle position. The device come in 5 different colors: Cherry Pink, Flame Red, Sand Gold, Glacier Blue and Black.

Features

Going over to the performance side, the Xiaomi Mi 6X brings out a lot of power. Starting with the chipset, the device features the octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor. Accompanied by the Adreno 512 GPU, it assures you that the device will always handle every task you throw at it. Going over to the memory, the Mi 6X has three different combinations: 4/64GB, 6/64GB and 6/128GB. Whichever option you pick, both the multitaskers and media heavy junkies should be satisfied. Finishing the performance section, the device features 3010mAh battery. It should easily last you through a full day of use, and there is Quick Charge 3.0 support available for those moments.

Switching over to the cameras, the Xiaomi Mi 6X features a dual camera on the back. The 12MP + 20MP combo is perfect at taking excellent pictures with good color saturation and dynamic range. The sensors are designed by Sony, and the first is a regular RGB sensor, with the second being a portrait mode / night mode one. On the front, you will also find another 20MP shooter – perfect for all of your selfies. A special feature of the cameras are the AI capabilities, that should improve your pictures based on the subject you’re shooting. Xiaomi said that the software should improve over time to provide better details and edge blur.

Finishing with the software, the Xiaomi Mi 6X comes with Android Oreo out of the box. It is skinned using Xiaomi’s own MIUI skin, a heavily modified version that packs in some nice features. The skin is probably one of the most famous among consumers, and it can be daunting at first use. But, it has an easy learning curve, and it packs in some pretty nice features.

Pricing and availability

The Xiaomi Mi 6X is currently available in China, with more countries to come in the following months. It is most likely that it this will be the Xiaomi Mi A2, the special version for the western market. Currently, the device will start at around 210 euros.
